In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

3 reasons to book
  • Private-pool villas that feel secluded — The one- and two-bedroom villas come with their own pools and are enclosed by walls, giving a genuinely private holiday feel. Guests consistently highlight the spaciousness, cleanliness and comfort of the villas.
  • Staff go out of their way — Multiple reviews praise the friendly, helpful staff, from serving breakfast in the villa at the requested time to booking activities at listed prices. Service is the top-rated single category after comfort and facilities.
  • Peaceful setting with jungle and rice-field views — The resort is set in a rural area, surrounded by tropical gardens and overlooking rice terraces. Guests mention the quiet environment and the free morning walk through nearby rice fields as a highlight.

Worth weighing

3 to weigh
  • Dining scores lower than other categories — The restaurant and bar are convenient, and several guests enjoy the breakfast, but the dining experience is rated below other aspects of the stay. In-room breakfast is available, but those wanting a wider culinary choice may need to venture out.
  • Value and room scores are modest — Rooms and value both score 6.5, and service 6.2. While many guests are delighted, the property's overall rating is 7.1 (area average 8.7), suggesting it may not be a top pick for everyone. It's worth comparing with other Ubud options.
  • Free shuttle runs on a limited schedule — The resort offers a complimentary shuttle, but it operates only at specific times. Guests who need flexibility for exploring Ubud may need to arrange their own transport or use the paid car hire or airport shuttle.

“I loved exploring the modern art at Museum Puri Lukisan. Alchemy Cafe's raw and vegan food was a magical experience. I found unique antiques and beautiful textiles at Karmarama Lifestyle's boutique. Had a wonderful Balinese massage at a hidden paradise. Monkey Forest was a wild adventure.”

“The villas were just splendid. Very spacious and clean. We had a two-bedroom villa with two huge bathrooms with shower and bath and our own swimming pool. The villa is surrounded by walls, giving it a very secluded and private feeling. Although we missed the view a bit. The view from the restaurant is gorgeous! The staff is very friendly and do their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Every morning breakfast was served in the villa, exactly at the time we asked. There was a really nice guy at reception who booked our cooking course and cycling tour. He chose the best activities, and we paid the organisations directly the prices listed on their websites. So I didn't get the impression the hotel earned anything from that. The hotel organises a nice morning walk through the nearby rice fields and a painting class (free). Our children very much enjoyed that. I would definitely recommend the Bali Rich. I'd like to thank the staff for a wonderful stay.”
